What to use for a gnome nose?
To make a gnome nose, you’ll want to use something small and round. Most of these tutorials use wooden balls or beads, however, if you don’t have any beads on hand, you can use pom poms or air-dry clay. You can even sew your own out of fabric. See the tutorial below:
Best filler for DIY gnomes
You can fill your gnome with dry rice or beans, polyester fiberfill fiber, fabric scraps, plastic beads, packing peanuts, tissue paper, or yarn.
I like to use dry rice or beans in the bottom third and fiberfill for the rest of the body. This adds weight to the bottom and prevents tipping.
Best materials for gnome beards
The best thing about making Christmas gnomes is that you can use whatever you have on hand. There’s no need to run to the craft store for faux fur if you don’t want to. You can use rope, twine, unraveled yarn, scrap fringe, a cotton mophead, moss, wool, colored craft fur, or even doll hair!
